Investigator students visit Centre to learn about augmented reality

Twenty-seven Year 11 students from Investigator College, Victor Harbor, spent time with the Centre team on Wednesday 5 November to learn about advances in technology. The business and agriculture students were tasked with investigating an emerging technology (e.g. artificial intelligence, blockchain, IoT, generative AI, extended reality (VR), biotechnology, etc.) and examining how it is being integrated into a real South Australian business, in this case the CLLMM Research Centre.

The students spent time exploring the Centre’s state-of-the-art virtual reality platform (the ‘Sandbox’) which was developed to help people better appreciate and understand the unique cultural, environmental, economic, and social values of the CLLMM region. The team shared with students how the immersive experience can also support planning and decision-making for the region’s future.

The Centre welcomed a team from the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments (Uni SA) who spoke with the students about emerging technologies and their use within business and society. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Dr Andrew Cunningham and Pat Fraser from UniSA for their time, expertise and enthusiasm!

Want to have your own immersive and interactive experience? Come and explore the CLLMM region through our ‘Sandbox’ at the Centre. We’re open to the public from 9–5, Mon to Fri at Level 1/92 Barrage Road, Goolwa – all welcome.
