We were delighted to host a Flow-MER Cultural Network meeting at the Centre last month.
One Basin CRC is the knowledge exchange provider for Flow-MER, the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder’s Science Program. The program assesses how the Murray–Darling Basin environment responds to environmental flows and informs how Commonwealth environmental water is managed.
A Cultural Network has been established for First Nations people working across the Flow-MER Program to connect, share knowledge and influence the program.
The in-person meeting at the Centre:
- helped build relationships across the Cultural Network
- provided space to discuss First Nations MER (monitoring, evaluation, research) and cultural outcomes activities
- increased collective understanding of the program and what everyone is working on
- helped people connect with and learn from examples of monitoring work on-Country
- provided a space for cultural advisors to discuss their aspirations for the program and the challenges they’ve faced.
While they were in the region, the participants also had the opportunity to spend time on Country and visited the Murray Mouth, Goolwa Barrages and Hindmarsh and Mundoo Islands.
