Meet the new River Fellows

The CLLMM Research Centre congratulates Julie Jones, Arnold Love, Django Westmoreland and Mark Koolmatrie who have been awarded River Fellowships for 2026.  There are 15 fellowships awarded each year, and this year four are from the Lower Lakes, Coorong and Murray Mouth region.

The River Fellowship program is led by the Murray-Darling Conservation Alliance, with support from the Australian Conservation Foundation, Murray Lower Darling Rivers Indigenous Nations (MLDRIN), and other partners.

The River Fellowship is a year-long leadership and training program for people who love their local rivers and wetlands and want to protect them.

Fellows gain skills, confidence, and networks to advocate for healthy river systems across the Murray–Darling Basin.

The program includes residential retreats, online training sessions, coaching, and a national gathering in Canberra where Fellows meet with decision-makers and share their stories.

We’re delighted and excited for their fellowship year ahead.
