Last month, our Engagement Coordinator, Sue Ellison, had the opportunity to attend the inaugural South Australian Aboriginal Land and Sea Ranger Conference in Hahndorf. This conference brought together more than 200 rangers from the 29 Indigenous ranger groups across SA.
Sue described it as both a privilege and a pleasure to be invited to listen, learn and share experiences from our CLLMM work on Country, alongside the Meningie Indigenous Ranger team and the Yarluwar Ruwe team based in Port Elliot.
The conference created a valuable space for emerging and established ranger teams to connect, exchange ideas, and talk openly about the challenges and successes of working on Country.
It was also encouraging to see partner organisations coming together to support, learn from, and collaborate with Indigenous ranger teams.
Sue continues to learn through these experiences — gaining insight from stories, conversations and shared moments with such dedicated people. The presence of mentors and Elders added even greater depth, offering guidance and knowledge that will continue to shape this work into the future.
